• Cut two full days from HP Consulting’s monthly financial close cycle by creating a consolidated global financial Hyperion Essbase cube with regional data capture. I was the primary analyst, architect, designer and technical leader of the implementation team. Wrote outline, calc scripts, ETL scripts, load rules, user acceptance tests, and user training materials. This was the controller’s first drill-down view into regional details that comprised his business.
  
• Closed the global financial books on time every month during phased development of an Essbase finance cube for HP Consulting, while providing 24 x 7 support of financial close activities at global and multiple regional levels.

• Managed migration of general ledger data, reports, interfaces, maintenance procedures and fiscal year-end procedures. Facilitated on-time generation of financial statements and tax returns from new system, while ensuring perfect data integrity with historic system. Met or exceeded all legal and regulatory compliance requirements, including IRS and SEC. Saved HP $300k/year by gracefully decommissioning old general ledger system after migration.
  
• Managed creation of a source code version control library for HP’s Corporate Financial Reporting department. Individually recognized need, championed the idea, gained management approval, researched tools, selected “rcs”, implemented library, added source code, and trained other developers on check-out and check-in procedures. The team had experienced a two-week delay due to version control issues; this project eliminated subsequent delays.

• Realized a dramatic improvement in HP’s internal network management by creating more effective network traffic reports. Invented and tested network congestion hypotheses together with network engineers, determined key statistics, and designed a system to pre-calculate and store those key statistics, which led to a 90% reduction in the time required to produce network traffic reports.
  
• Created administration system for HP’s employee calling cards. Reduced department’s intra-corporate billing transactions by 25% and reduced administration effort by 50%, allowing redeployment of two full-time positions.
  
• Saved $40k/year by designing and implementing a batch job monitoring system, which notified support engineers when batch jobs had runtime errors and reduced the investigation required when jobs failed.
